  • St. Johns Reads Event: Sisterhood of the Traveling Plants - Victorian Language of Flowers

    Everyone is welcome to celebrate our 2013 St. Johns Reads book, The Yard, by Alex Grecian with this special Victorian event! The Sisterhood of the Traveling Plants' (Cathy and Marilyn) are coming to your library to help you discover the meaning behind flowers and how they can come together in beautiful arrangements! If you wish, buy raffle tickets from the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library to win the arrangements the Sisterhood creates! Proceeds from the raffle help to sponsor this event. Doors will open promptly at 1:30 pm for this event! Light refreshments will be generously provided by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library. Please note:  Though Sisterhood programs are usually are held on Saturdays, this special Sisterhood program is held on a Thursday!

     

  • Black History Month Youth Book Display

    During the entire month of February, the Children's Department will be displaying for checkout our picture books, chapter books, non-fiction books, and biographies atop our Picture Book shelves in celebration of Black History Month! We invite you to learn more about Black History in February and all year-round at your library.

     

  • February Storytimes @ Main

    Weekly Storytimes @ Main LibraryIt's already February, and we'd LOVE for you to join us for all the laughs with books, songs, stories and fun at our during our Winter Storytime season!  Thursdays, February 7, 14, 21, & 28!

    Baby Time 10:15 am
    A gentle lapsit program with action rhymes, fingerplays, and first books for babies.  For infants & pre-walkers only, please.
    Toddler Time 11 am
    We'll sing, we'll dance, and share our excitement for books and learning at the library. Don't be shy and bring your dancing shoes!
    Preschool Storytime 11:30 am
    "Big Kids" get a storytime of their own. Longer stories, a variety of early literacy concepts, listening, and pre-classroom skills.  Perfect for 3-5 year olds.

     

  • After School Gaming

    School's Out GamingThursday, February 28 @ 3 pm
    School-age children, tweens, and teens choose what they want to play after school at the Main library. A selection of video game choices for X-box 360, PS3, & Wii consoles will be offered. Complimentary snacks and soda will be provided. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library & Sony.

     

  • St. Johns Reads: BINGO for Mystery Books!

    Do you love free mystery books and playing Bingo? To celebrate St. Johns Reads 2013 this month we will be giving out adult mystery books! Everyone is guaranteed to go home with at least one free book. Book prizes are generously donated by the Friends of the St. Johns County Library! Everyone is welcome and it's FREE!

     

  • St. Johns Reads Event: Murder/Mystery Short Story Contest

    February 1 - February 28

    Calling all aspiring writers!  Put your skills to work by writing a mystery short story.  Contest Rules: 1-One entry per person. 2-Any age may participate. 3-All entries must be of a murder or mystery theme and must be no more than 2500 words (or 10 pages). 4-Entries must be submitted by Thursday, February 28th.  They may be submitted in person, by fax (827-6905), email (libse@sjcfl.us) or regular mail (6670 US 1 South, St. Augustine, FL 32086).  Prizes to be announced.

  • St. Johns Reads Event: Dessert & Book Discussion

  • AARP Tax Assistance

    AARP Tax ServicesTuesdays, February 5, 12, 19 & 26 @ 10 am - 2 pm
    Thursdays,  February 7, 14, 21 & 28 @ 10 am - 2 pm
    The AARP Tax-Aide program offers FREE one-on-one counseling to help individuals prepare basic tax forms, including the 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ and other standard schedules.  The FREE counseling is available to all low to middle income taxpayers, regardless of age. No advance registration is needed, people will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Individuals must bring a photo ID, last year's tax return, and all relevant tax information with them.

  • Fears, Phobias and Aggression in Dogs

    PitbullsThursday, February 28 @ 6 pm
    The Library System partners with the "Be a Pack Leader" Dog Walking Club to bring you a program that will enlighten you to the fears and phobias experienced by your dog and how you might help them overcome stress in training situations.

    This program features dog trainer Silke Schroder, who has been training dogs professionally since 1988.  Her training includes agility, obedience, protection, and search and rescue.  Everyone is welcome, but we ask that you please DO NOT bring your own dog for this program.
