Kick off a summer of reading right with the always-fun Youth Services staff (Michelle and Beth) from the Hastings Branch Library, this year known as The Spud Sisters! Join us as they present an interactive program guaranteed to get the audience involved with stories, songs, and more. All of our FLYP events this summer will have a Florida flavor in honor of Viva Florida 500. Children of all ages are encouraged to attend; however, please be aware that FLYP Programs are geared toward the school-age child. FLYP events are generously sponsored by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.

Sea Urchins, Mud Snails, Spiny Lobsters, Starfish, and Horseshoe Crabs are coming to visit the library this summer. School-age children can learn hands-on about Florida marine biology. Discover how the animals breathe, find and eat food, protect themselves and generally survive in their environment. This FREE program is sponsored in partnership with the Friends of the Library of St. Johns County.

The Hastings Book Club progresses through the history of detective fiction by reading a book written by one of three masters of the genre from the mid-nineteenth century: Wilke Collins (The Woman in White and Moonstone); Victor Hugo (Les Miserables); or Charles Dickens (The Mystery of Erin Drood). We will discuss the development of the fictional detectives since its introduction by American story writer Edgar Allen Poe.

Bartram Trail’s FLYP Programs take place at 10am on Thursdays beginning June 20 through July 25. Each program will be held at the Family Activities Building (FAB) at Switzerland Community Church located at 2179 State Road 13. Children of all ages may attend; please be aware, however, that FLYP Programs are geared toward the school-age child. Strollers and street shoes will not be permitted in the building.
