  • Free Nemours BrightStart Screenings for Ages 3 - 5

    storytimeTuesday, October 15 from 10am - 12:30pm
    Children ages 3-5 are invited to receive a free, 10-minute Early Literacy Screening at the library, courtesy of Nemours BrightStart. Registration is taken on a first-come, first serve basis by a Nemours representative. Utilize this free screening to find out where your child's literacy strengths lay and what you can do to help them improve in any other areas before they start school.

     

  • Viva Florida 500 "Bird" Family Storytime

    Join Ms. Anne and our favorite Bird Island Park volunteers - Ms. Suzanne and Ms. Gail - for a special bird-themed storytime celebrating Viva Florida 500 with a craft and nature walk afterwards in Bird Island Park. If the weather's nice, we'll gather in the meeting room and then take storytime outdoors, so bring a comfy blanket. The whole family is invited to celebrate Viva Florida 500, our feathered friends, and our wonderful partnership with Bird Island Park.

     

  • Tai-Chi: Enter the Healing Journey

     Tuesday, October 15 @ 10:30am 
    You are cordially invited to begin a pleasant and enjoyable journey in the ancient Chinese healing exercise, as you learn and practice Tai-Chi. In class, students will perform soft, continuous movements that will allow them to receive many positive aspects of renewed health, while developing internal stillness. Some of the benefits of Tai-Chi include: relief from muscular tension and anxiety, increased concentration and memory, enhanced sensory awareness, and improved balance. This free workshop is presented by Hector M. Ruiz, Jr., a certified instructor in Tai-Chi and Qi Gong. 

     

  • Relax with Raindrop Therapy

    Tuesday, October 15 @ 6pm
    Give your feet a treat with Raindrop Therapy using therapeutic oils. Inspired by the Lakota Indians, Raindrop Therapy has been used for years as a highly effective method for balancing and rejuvenating the mind and body. When properly applied to the neck, back and feet, these essential oils can bring about electrical alignment and help relieve a variety of discomforts caused by imbalances in the body. Presented by licensed massage therapist, Gina Mercado. 

     

  • Bedtime Storytime: Boo to You

    Let's celebrate Halloween early. We will read stories about friendly monsters, ghosties and beasties, and Halloween and will go on a treasure hunt around the library for some spook-tacular goodies. Come dressed in your cutest or scariest Halloween costume and get ready to do the Monster Mash. This is a family program that is suitable for all young and school-aged children.

    This event will be hosted by Southeast Teen Volunteers in celebration of Teen Read Week. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Southeast Branch Library.
