  • Teen Advisory Board

    Teens ages 13 - 18 ONLY are invited to join our new Teen Advisory Board and have a say in the materials we order for teens, the teen programs we offer, and much more at the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library! Participation in the Teen Advisory Board counts as service hours and snacks will be served provided by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library. Join us for our meeting - led by Youth Services Librarian Anne Crawford - and get involved!

     

  • Adventures in Art: La Florida, 500 years of Art

    From native and Spanish colonial artifacts, to digital and video art of today, La Florida celebrates 500 years of Florida art.  Join Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens Chief Curator, Holly Keris, for this fascinating presentation.  This program is made possible by FOCUS Cummer and the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.


  • After-School Crafts with Teens

    Children in Kindergarten - 5th grade, and their caregivers, are invited to make crafts with the teens of Nease High School's Arts in Motion Club! Materials are provided by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library, no registration is needed, and it's FREE! Please Note:  All children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program and starting in January 2013, this program moves from the 1st to the 2nd Wednesday of every month!

  • Computer Class: Free E-books for your Kindle

    Learn how to download free e-books from the library's website to your Kindle. Please bring your Kindle and your laptop (if you own one) to class. Laptops will be provided otherwise.     The AARP Tax-Aide program offers FREE one-on-one counseling to help individuals prepare basic tax forms, including the 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ and other standard schedules.  The FREE counseling is available to all low to middle income tax payers, regardless of age. No advance registration is needed, people will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Individuals must bring a photo ID, last year's tax return, and all relevant tax information with them.

  • Writers' Workshop: From Manuscript to Printed Page

    Whether you are a first time author, or already have several books written, publishing today is a daunting task. As publishing in general and epublishing in particular are in constant flux, it’s hard to know the best route to take. This program will explore where publishing stands now, the issues, and what methods are available to get your book into print. Presented by guest speakers and award-winning authors, Michael King and Jeff Swesky. This FREE workshop for writers is brought to you through a partnership between the Florida Writers Association Ancient City Chapter and the Friends of the Library of St. Johns County.

  • Teen Tech Week: Learn to Solder

    Learn how to solder small electronics with Mr. Aaron from the Palm Coast Radio Shack.  This is a "Maker Spaces" program that encourages teenagers to explore new mediums and use their imaginations.  Teens aged 13 and up will be invited to participate and use the soldering iron under supervision.  Tweens are welcome to attend as observers.

    This season we will continue with our alphabet "letter days."  Today is "V" day.

    Calling all teen artists, poets, and scholars!  Come share your drawings, sketches, poems, stories...anything!  We will meet in the Teen Lounge and share our art and the art of others. 

    This month we'll be hanging out with special guest Andre Frattino, author of the graphic novel The Reaper of St. George Street.  Bring your sketchbooks, journals, and your own coffee mug and we'll fill it with decaf coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or apple cider.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Southeast Branch Library.

All middle school and high school students are invited to celebrate Teen Tech Week with Andre Frattino, local author of two graphic novels for teens, The Reaper of St. George Street and Lost Souls of Savannah, featuring teen ghost hunters from St. Augustine! Andre will show you what it takes to become a graphic novel author with opportunities to create your own art if you wish. All teen graphic novel enthusiasts are encouraged to participate in this hands-on workshop.     Instead of our regular storytimes, we will be having our St. Johns County firefighters here at Anastasia Island Library!  Come out to meet your local heroes and take a tour of their fire truck and learn what a firefighter does!  Be sure to bring your camera to get some great pictures.
