The summer is blooming, and soon we'll have time to express ourselves, through passion and rhyme, and if you love writing, in any style or prose, a poetry club is the best place to go!

Created in partnership with the library, by students for students.

 

 

Children's Summer Reading Program

Starting June 10, Reading Logs and will be available for pickup
. All children are invited to participate in our summer reading program which includes books and other prizes for reading.  We will have weekly performances from magician Mark Alan, LB Reptile Experience, Saltwater Cowgirls, and much more.  All performances, the character visits, craft programs, and the book prizes are generously sponsored by the Friends of the Anastasia Island Branch Library.

 

Nature Detective Workshops for Kids

Nature DetectivesSaturday, July 6 @ 2pm (Pre-registration required)
Children ages 6-12 are invited to become Nature Detectives and learn all about lizards and how these pollinators relate to gardening at these hands-on workshops. Every child will receive free gardening goodies, including Nature Detective notebooks, and have fun learning all about our wonderful Florida lizards and how spot to them. These workshops are designed by the Sisterhood of the Traveling Plants, presented by the Garden Circles, and sponsored by the Garden Club of St. Augustine and the Friends of the Anastasia Island Library. Summer Reading Program: Dig In!

Everyone is invited to us for a fun Viva Florida 500 event. The “Spice Girls” - CayANNE and Pepper (Ms. Anne and Ms. Amy from our Ponte Vedra Branch) will be here for an interactive program in our Ol’ Florida Kitchen as we “Dig In” to stories, songs, and more full of audience participation guaranteed to get the kids involved! Children of all ages may attend; please be aware, however, that Summer Reading Programs are geared toward the school-age child.

 

Writers' Theater Partnership

Tuesday, June 11 @ 6 pm
A four-part program dedicated to bringing out the best in your play, screenplay or short story.  Fellow writers and participants will help you develop your work by reading aloud and providing feedback. 
The program will run the second Tuesday of the month for four months, always beginning at 6 pm:  June 11th, July 9th, August 13th and September 10th.

Summer Reading Program: Crafts & Snacks with Pete the Cat!

Teen Craft: Make a Sand Candle

Teens (ages 12 and up) can come into the library to make some sand candles. You can make your own design since we'll be using sand!  We will supply the materials, you just need to supply the imagination!  *This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Anastasia Island Branch Library.

 

Anastasia Island Movie Club

Anastasia Island Book Club

A fierce competition is underway--a duel between two young circus magicians who have been trained since childhood for this purpose. This is a game in which only one can be left standing, and the circus is but the stage for a remarkable battle of imagination and will. All are welcome to join the discussion. Reserve it 

 

Altered CD Teen Craft

Teens (ages 12 and up) can come into the library to make some altered CDs.  What?!  You'll be able to make cool decorations for your room or even suncatchers out of old recycled CDs!  We'll supply all the materials, you just need to show up and use your imagnination to create some original designs!  *This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Anastasia Island Branch Library.
