Great Backyard Bird Count Bird Identification Program

Monique Borboen, Northeast Policy Associate for the Audubon Society, will make a presentation on birds in our local community, how to identify them and how we can to be stewards of the natural environment. Great Backyard Bird Count materials will be distributed to the community. Birdhouses and haiku will be on display at the Library. This program is for new and experienced birds, children and families.

The AARP Tax-Aide program offers FREE one-on-one counseling to help individuals prepare basic tax forms, including the 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ and other standard schedules. The FREE counseling is available to all low to middle income taxpayers, regardless of age. No advance registration is needed, people will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Individuals must bring a photo ID, last year's tax return, and all relevant tax information with them.

Great Backyard Bird Count Meet Up for Birding Guides & Walks!
Saturday, February 16 starting at 10 am
Come participate in this great family activity and learn how to go birding! There will be several birding guides available to take out groups of adults and children to birding locations on the beach and at various locations around the area. You may also participate on your own by downloading the packet and turn in your results to be entered into the nationwide bird count!
Viva Florida 500 & GBBC Gear Up for the Great Backyard Bird Count!

Come into the library to learn more about birding & the Great Backyard Bird Count going on in February! Monique Borboen, Northeast Florida Policy Associate for the Audubon Society, will be presenting a program on how to identify birds in our community and how we can be stewards of the natural environment. After the program, we will provide you with your very own “go kit” to go out and participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count! The kit will include a bird list, color copies of shore and wading birds, instructions on how to participate in the GBBC and a list of locations within St. Johns County that are great birding spots. This program is for new and experienced birders alike, and the entire family is encouraged to take part!
