St Johns Reads Event: Movie Night

Tuesday, February 12 @ 5:30 pm

This dynamic PG-13 portrayal of Sherlock Holmes, starring Robert Downey Jr., sends Holmes and his stalwart partner, Watson, on their latest challenge.  Revealing fighting skills as lethal as his legendary intellect, Holmes will battle as never before to bring down a new nemesis and unravel a deadly plot that could destroy the country. Bring your own snacks!

Book Sale

Do you love books? Do you love your library? The Friends of the Bartram Trail Branch Library will hold this month's book sale from 9:30am to noon -- books of all kinds and items such as DVDs, CDs, VHS tapes, and audiobooks will be available. Proceeds from the book sale support programs at the Bartram Trail Branch Library.

Teen Gamers

teen gamers Saturday, May 18 @ 5pm
Teens, grades 6-12, bring your friends and come for an evening of gaming. We have Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Wii, PS3, or play the newest Halo game on X-Box 360. Refreshments will be served.

 

International Affairs Discussion

The International Affairs Discussion Group will meet at 6:30pm to discuss international current events. The discussion will be moderated by Joseph Warner, retired U.S. diplomat and adjunct professor of Geography and International Relations at Florida State College at Jacksonville. A reading list of suggested books and articles will be available in time to prepare for the discussions. The topic this month is "Energy and Resources."

St Johns Reads Event: Book Discussion "The Yard"

Please join us for a discussion of this year's St Johns Reads title, "The Yard."  Suffering public contempt after the Metropolitan Police's failure to capture Jack the Ripper, Walter Day, a member of Victorian London's recently formed "Murder Squad," partners with Scotland Yard's first forensic pathologist to track down a killer who is targeting their colleagues. Light refreshments are provided.

 

Author Event @ Bartram Trail: Tim Dorsey

Join us as we welcome New York Times Bestselling author Tim Dorsey back to the Bartram Trail Branch Library! Tim will be talking about the newest book in the Serge Storms series, The Riptide Ultra-Glide: a novel.  The talk will be followed by a book signing. Bring your own copy, or purchase his book at the event. Snacks are provided by the Friends of the Bartram Trail Branch Library.

Veterans' History Volunteer Training

Saturday, February 9 @ 2 pm
We're looking for volunteers to help us interview local veterans and record their stories. This is a nationwide effort, led by the Library of Congress, to preserve the memories and stories of our nation's heroes. Adult Crochet Group

Thursday, May 30 @ 6pm
Adults and teens, age 14+, are invited to attend the Project Lap Blanket crochet group at the Bartram Trail Branch Library. The group will crochet or knit blankets for cancer patients at area hospitals. All skill levels are welcome. Can’t come to any of the meetings? Pick up the crochet pattern at the Reference Desk in the library and crochet the blanket in your spare time. Drop off completed blankets and any yarn you’d like to donate during regular library hours.
