Civil War Book Sale
Monday, July 8 - Saturday, July 13
In commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, the Bartram Trail Friends of the Library will be holding a special week-long Civil War book sale. They've been collecting donations for the past year in anticipation of this event. More than 200 Civil War themed books will be available for purchase. All proceeds from the sale will go back to the library for things such as new book purchases and children's programming.
Nature Detective Workshops for Kids
Wednesday, July 17 @ 2pm and 3:30pm (repeat program)
Class size is limited so reserve your spot now by calling the Library at 827-6960 or stopping by the Bartram Trail Branch Library Reference Desk. Children ages 6 - 12 ONLY are invited to become Nature Detectives and learn all about lizards and how these pollinators relate to gardening. Each child will receive free gardening goodies, including Nature Detective notebooks, and have fun learning all about our wonderful Florida lizards and how to spot them. These programs are designed by the Sisterhood of the Traveling Plants, presented by the Garden Circles, and generously sponsored by the Garden Club of St. Augustine and the Friends of the Bartram Trail Branch Library. These workshops also celebrate Viva Florida 500. Please note: Children under the age of 10 must have a parent or guardian present for the duration of the program.

Children's FLYP Event: "Meet Your Local Super Heroes and Ice Cream Party"

This program will be held indoors in case of rain.
We've saved our best program for last! Come out and meet your local super heroes! You can explore the fire truck and meet real fire fighters! Then, celebrate your summer reading with ice cream! 12pm - iPad user group: Bring your tablet or smart phone for a group discussion about tips, tricks, and awesome apps.
4:30pm - Picasa: Are you taking a lot of vacation pictures this summer? Come learn about this free editing and organization tool from Google. You must bring your google username and password with you to the class. Don’t have one? Sign up on Picasa.
6pm – Introduction to Powerpoint 2010: Whether you’re new to Publisher or converting from an older version, this is the class to come to if you can’t find that button Microsoft hid this time.
Bartram Trail Book Club

Everyone is invited to discuss Kate Morton's newest novel, The Secret Keeper. It explores longings and dreams, the lengths people go to fulfill them, and the consequences they can have. It is a story of lovers, friends, dreamers, and schemers told in Morton's signature style against a backdrop of events that changed the world. New members are always welcome.
First Friday Florida Book Club

We're doing a year-long celebration of Florida literature. Our July book: Open Boat by Stephen Crane. Published in 1897, this short story is based on an actual shipwreck incident from Crane’s life.
International Affairs Discussion Group
Monday, June 3 @ 6:30pm
The International Affairs Discussion Group will meet at 6:30pm to discuss international current events. The discussion will be moderated by Joseph Warner, retired U.S. diplomat and adjunct professor of Geography and International Relations at Florida State College at Jacksonville. A reading list of suggested books and articles will be available in time to prepare for the discussions. The topic this month is "U.S. and its Place in the Changing World."
