The Hastings Book Club progresses through the history of detective fiction by reading a book written by one of three masters of the genre from the mid-nineteenth century: Wilke Collins (The Woman in White and Moonstone); Victor Hugo (Les Miserables); or Charles Dickens (The Mystery of Erin Drood). We will discuss the development of the fictional detectives since its introduction by American story writer Edgar Allen Poe.
