AARP Tax Assistance

TaxesThe AARP Tax-Aide program offers free, one-on-one counseling to help individuals prepare basic tax forms, including the 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ, and other standard schedules. Counseling is available to all low-to-middle income taxpayers, regardless of age. No advance registration is needed, people will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Individuals must bring a photo ID, last year's tax return, and all relevant tax information with them.

St. Johns Reads Event: Flagler's Train Documentary

Flagler's Train: The Florida Keys Over-Sea Railroad, produced by WPBT2, chronicles the imagination and achievements of Henry Flagler, who spearheaded the development of the over-seas railway connecting Key West to the existing Florida East Coast Railway. Enjoy refreshments courtesy of the Friends of the Hastings Branch Library while you watch.

Friends do things like staff the bookstore, represent the library at community events, and come up with ideas to raise funds and promote the library. The Friends efforts provide funding for library programming, crafts for storytime, extra library materials and much more. Meetings are the third Thursday of every month for one hour.

Palms in windHurricanes were the bane of Henry Flager as he tried to complete his railroad. His workers regularly checked the air pressure with their homemade barometers. Kids and teens will learn how to make their own air pressure devices, including "kissing balloons" and a vortex air cannon. Also, they will see how to make liquid flow uphill. All of these devices can be replicated at home. Come have fun "under pressure"!
