NERDS Rule: Trendy Timelines

NERDS Rule!NERDS rule! Show your best research skills and build an electronic timeline with our iPads. SJCPLS Librarians will guide students on how to find valuable information in the Biography in Context database and then use the information to build an impressive electronic timeline on our iPads. These timelines will WOW your teachers! Pizza snack served.

Just for Babies - Held Thursdays, August 13 & 27 at 10:15am; for babies up to 15 months and their caregivers. This infant lapsit is designed for one-on-one interaction between caregiver and baby. Families with multiple children are encouraged to attend Family Storytime.

Family Storytime - Held every Thursday morning in August at 11am; for children 16 months - 5 years and their families, though no child will be turned away. These storytimes feature music, dancing, books, fingerplays, and more! For more information on system-wide library storytimes, please go here.

Family Football Storytime featuring local authors Christie and Anna Shea!

Football season is almost upon us and here to celebrate the season are local authors Christie and Anna Shea with their new children's book Bradford the Camping Kangaroo Meets the Florida Gators! Wear your chosen team colors or attire if you wish, bring your favorite adults, and join us for a special storytime featuring this book with the option of buying a signed copy at the end if you wish! 20% of the proceeds come back to the Library via the Friends in support of new materials, programs, and more. Thank you to the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library for selling the books and supporting this special program and our local authors. Call the Library at 827-6950 with any questions. FLYP Ice Cream Party

Tuesday August 4 @ 3pm
The Florida Library Youth Program is drawing to a close and what better way to celebrate than with an Ice Cream Party! All of the Main Library Bookworms are invited to feast on our free ice cream buffet. Pile on as many toppings as you want and kick back to enjoy some classic cartoons. The party will be held in the large meeting room so come on down and cool off at the library. After School Gaming: It's on!

Thursday August 27 @ 3pm
Beat the heat this summer in the large meeting room from 3-5pm for some awesome video game sessions. Challenge your friends on our Wii, Playstation 3, Xbox and Xbox 360. All games are rated E for everyone and everyone gets a turn. Sponsored by the Friends of the Main Library St. Augustine.

 

The Hour of Code

Thursday, August 20 @ 4pm
Explore computer programming for kids with the world wide Hour of Code! Teens and pre-teens can explore a basic introduction to computer science and even learn basic programming skills using popular video game characters. The lessons increase in difficulty as you move through them so come back each month to improve your skills. This one hour program is designed to demystify code and show that anyone can learn the basics. There will be guided lessons as well as individual and group exploration. You can bring your own laptop or tablet or you can borrow one of ours. Supplies are limited. Our tablets are provided through the generous support of the Friends of the Main Library St. Augustine.

 

 

Main-iac Science Labs

Thursday, August 13 @ 4pm
Join mad scientists, Mr. Andy and Ms. Marcia, as they dive into science. Young science enthusiasts, ages 6-16, are invited to join Main-iac Labs and have fun with our hands-on experiments. Sponsored by the Friends of the Main Library St. Augustine.
