After School Gaming

School-age children, tweens, and teens choose what they want to play after school at the Main Library. A selection of video game choices for X-box 360, PS3, & Wii consoles will be offered.  Complimentary snacks and soda will be provided.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Library & Sony.

Family Game Time

Family Board Game NightWednesday, April 24 from 3 - 6pm

On the 4th Wednesday of every month between 3 - 6pm, the whole family is invited to the library to play board games. Simply use your library card or driver's license to check out a board game or two and play anywhere in the library. Challenge your family and friends to your favorite games. Call the Library at 827-6950 for more details. All board games are provided by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.

 

LEGO Club for Tweens

LegoWednesday, April 17 from 4 - 5 pm

Tweens in 4th - 7th grade ONLY are invited to come on out and bring your friends for an afternoon of fun building with Legos and hanging out at the library. No registration is necessary and it's free. Thanks to our Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library for providing the Legos for this very special program just for Tweens including our pink Legos. Tween girl Lego lovers, we want you to join our club.

 

FREE Nemours BrightStart Screenings for Ages 3 - 5

storytimeTuesday, April 16 from 10 am - 12:30 pm

Children ages 3 - 5 are invited to receive a 10-minute FREE Early Literacy Screening at the Library courtesy of Nemours BrightStart! Registration will be taken on a first-come, first serve basis on this day by a representative of Nemours. Nemours BrightStart will be returning monthly in 2013 to conduct more screenings at the Library for those not able to take advantage of the opportunity on this date. Utilize this free screening to find out where your child's literacy strengths lay and what you can do to help them improve in any other areas before they start school!

 

MAIN-iac Science Lab - National Library Week

Celebrate National Library Week with this special event hosted by The Cat in the Hat! Join us after school for a hands-on, minds-on Seussical science program and work closely with our very own mad scientists from the Children's Department. Explore a variety of science topics through fun experiments, activities, and lively discussions.  All materials for experiments provided!  If you can't make it to the science lab, check out some amazing science project books.

 

Teens Read with Kids

storytimeSaturday, April 6 from 10 am - 12 pm

All children are invited to be read to by a teen or practice reading to a teen in the Children's Department - this program is presented by the teens of Ponte Vedra High School's Book Club! Select what you'd like to hear, read from any of our books, or bring your favorites from home. Please note:  All children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult for the entire duration of the program and to be a teen participating in the program, you must be a member of the Ponte Vedra High School Book Club.

 

April Storytimes @ Main Library

Weekly Storytimes @ Main LibraryIt's already April, and we're "hopping" you will join us each week for all the laughs of storytime.  We'll share some of our favorite books, sing songs, tell interactive stories, make crafts, & have lots of fun! Thursdays, April 4, 11, 18, & 25!

Baby Time 10:15 am
A gentle lapsit program with action rhymes, fingerplays, and first books for babies.  For pre-walkers only, please.
Toddler Time 11 am
We'll sing, we'll dance, and share our excitement for books and learning at the library. Don't be shy and bring your dancing shoes!
Preschool Storytime 11:30 am
"Big Kids" get a storytime of their own. Longer stories, a variety of early literacy concepts, listening, & pre-classroom skills.  Perfect for 3-5 year olds.

 

Science for Kids: Measuring Home Energy with JEA

Attention math geeks and science nerds!!  Your parents need your help to save energy AND money! Come to our DIY Science program and learn how to measure energy used in your home. You can then use these calculations to see where you can make some changes to save money AND help save the earth!  Recommended for ages 10 and up (unless you’re a MATH GENIUS!) Please bring your adult with you.  You can register by calling 827-6960.  Presented for FREE by Project Green Team in conjunction with JEA and the St. Johns County Public Library System.
