Celebrate the American Library Association's 6th Annual International Games Day with us. School-age children, tweens, and teens choose what they want to play at the Main Library. A selection of video game choices for X-box 360, PS3, & Wii consoles will be offered. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library of St. Johns County and Sony. Fun for the whole family.

 

Storytimes @ Main Library

Weekly Storytimes @ Main LibraryEvery Thursday in November
We invite you to join us each week for all the laughs of storytime. We'll share some of our favorite books, sing songs, play music, tell interactive stories, make crafts, and have lots of fun.
Baby Time 10:15am:
A gentle lapsit program with action rhymes, fingerplays, and first books for babies. For pre-walkers only, please.
Toddler Time 11am:
We'll sing, we'll dance, and share our excitement for books and learning at the library. Don't be shy and bring your dancing shoes.
Preschool Storytime 11:30am:
"Big Kids" get a storytime of their own, including longer stories, a variety of early literacy concepts, listening, and pre-classroom skills. Perfect for 3-5 year olds.


After School Gaming

MAIN-iac Science Lab

MAIN-iac Science LabThursday, November 21 @ 4pm
Join us after school for a hands-on, minds-on science program and work closely with our very own mad scientists from the Children's Department. Explore a variety of science topics through fun experiments, activities, and lively discussions. All materials for experiments are provided. If you can't make it to the science lab, check out our amazing science project books.

 

Coin Collecting for Kids

Hey kids, have you been thinking about starting a coin collection? Then you'll want to come to the "Introduction to Coin Collecting for Kids" program presented by the Greater Jacksonville Coin Club. You'll learn about the history of U.S. coins, how they are made, where the mints are located, and get to see coins like half cents, Flying Eagles, Indian Head cents, half dimes, half dollars, and many more. Registration is required, please call the library at 827-6960 to reserve your spot.

 

Visions of Sugar Plums Holiday Storytime

Jingle down to the library for a grand celebration of the winter holidays. This storytime for all ages will feature songs, stories, games, and some special holiday visitors. We ask that children please wear socks and close-toed shoes for this program. As part of one of our games, children will remove their shoes and leave them lined up outside the storytime amphitheatre. Don't forget to bring your camera.

 

Holiday Crafts

Gobble gobble! School's out and it's almost turkey time. Are you ready for some holiday fun? We're getting together to make a homemade ornament, sing Christmas carols, and decorate a library Christmas tree. This program is geared toward children of all ages.

 

Bedtime Storytime

Wear your PJs to this special session of our regular Wednesday storytime where we do storytime backwards. Arts and crafts come first and then we will wind down with some favorite stories. This is a family program that is suitable for all young children.

 

Read to Rover Holiday Party

Who let the dogs out? Elementary students and beginning readers are invited to join our volunteer therapy dogs for a barking good time. Read your favorite stories to these clever canines and become a member of the Read to Rover Frequent Reader Club. Don't miss this great experience.

Santa Paws is coming to town. Maddie, Clifford, Cookie, and Oscar are ready to celebrate the holidays with you. We will have holiday stories to read and doggie and kiddie treats to share.
