Columbia Community Harvest Fundraiser

Columbia Community HarvestThe Friends of the Main Library St. Augustine is very pleased to announce that Columbia Restaurant has selected us to participate in their 17th Community Harvest Program. During September the restaurant will donate 5% of selected meal checks to us.  Enjoy a delicious meal, select Friends of the Library on the ballot presented at the end of your meal and you're supporting your library!

 

Author & Illustrator Visit: The Blue Balloon

Wednesday, October 1 @ 11am

Children are invited to listen to the story of a leatherback turtle and a blue balloon, read by the author. Find out what happens in the story and discover the special message that is revealed at the end. Melanie Cavanaugh, the author of The Blue Balloon, and Libby Heineken, the illustrator, will be present to autograph purchased books. There will also be an opportunity for children to make a turtle or jellyfish craft to take home. Copies of the book will be available for purchase, with a percentage of the proceeds going to The Friends of the Main Library St. Augustine and the new sea turtle hospital at Whitney Laboratory.

 

Silent Peace Meditation

Meditation teacher, Kathleen Roberts, will open the group with a short breathing exercise and lead us into a silent meditation, where the participants will think peace. Halloween Carnival

Tuesday October 28 @ 6pm

It's the annual Main Library Halloween Carnival! This year's carnival will run from 6pm to 7:30pm and will be held inside the new Caldecott Children's Room. There will be carnival-style games, photo booths, Scooby Doo Theatre, a trick or treat trail and magic shows by Mark Alan. Every kid will get a prize bag to fill with loot and costumes are highly encouraged. Come show off your costume and hang out with your friends at the carnival! Sponsored by The Friends of Main Library St. Augustine. Volunteer support provided by the Friends of Main Library St. Augustine and students from the St. Augustine High School Teaching Academy. 

 

Main-iac Science Labs

Join The Main-iacs as they explore the world of science with hands on experiments.  Main-iac Labs meets every third Thursday so grab your lab coat and join Mr. Andy and Mrs. Marcia for some scientific fun! Sponsored by The Friends of Main Library St. Augustine.
