Pre-K Story Time

Children ages 4-5 are invited to join Mr. Andy and Mrs. Marcia in the The Randolph Caldecott Children's Room every Tuesday, January through April, for an engaging story time program.  We will read books, sing songs and try on our crafting skills.  Parents and caregivers are invited too!  See you there!

MAIN-iac Science Labs - Hour of Code: an introduction to programming for kids

Thursday, January 22 @ 4 pm
Mainiac Labs is branching out into new territory by participating in the world wide Hour of Code! Kids (Ages 4+), can explore a basic introduction to computer science and even learn basic programming skills using the Angry Birds platform. This one hour program is designed to demystify code and show that anyone can learn the basics. There will be a guided lesson followed by individual and group exploration. Sponsored by The Friends of Main Library St. Augustine.

Teddy Bear Sleepover

Tuesday, January 6 @ 6 pm
It's a teddy bear sleepover at Main! Bring your favorite stuffed friend, teddy bear or otherwise, and read some bedtime stories, enjoy some snacks and then tuck them in for a library sleepover. Your favorite stuffed friend will play with all the other stuffed animals all night long.  Pick them up the next day and they'll tell you all about the fun they had. They'll even have pictures to prove it! Sponsored by The Friends of Main Library, Saint Augustine.

Do you love free books and playing B-I-N-G-O? Come on out to the library, make new friends or bring old friends along, and win adult fiction and non-fiction books. Everyone is guaranteed to go home with at least one book. Book prizes are generously donated by the Friends of the Library of St. Johns County. Everyone is welcome and it's free!

This year's St. Johns Reads book describes the efforts of ambitious entrepreneur Henry Flagler to construct a railway that would connect Key West to the mainland, from the design and engineering of the project to the 1935 hurricane that destroyed the railway. Wednesday Brown Bag Lunch: St. Augustine's Literary Legacy - With David Nolan

Celebrate St. Augustine's literary legacy and join the Friends as David Nolan, author, historian, and civil rights activist presents an armchair tour of St. Augustine's historic homes of literary significance. Nolan is a contributing author to A Booklover's Guide to Florida, published in 1992. He worked on the first official survey of old buildings in St. Augustine. After what he describes as a "twenty year love affair with historic architecture," he collaborated with artist Jean Ellen Fitzpatrick and photographer Ken Barrett to produce The Houses of St. Augustine, published in 1995.

For this special program, reservations will be required. Seating is limited, so please call the Main Library to make your reservations. Patrons are welcome to bring their lunch. Beverages and snacks will be provided. For more information, please contact Friends President Toni Siriani.
