Pig-Out Pancake Party!

One thing leads to another when you give a pig a pancake...so who knows what will happen when you give a kid a pancake, but that's what we're gonna do. Enjoy a lively rendition of Laura Numeroff's beloved classic, If You Give a Pig a Pancake. Afterwards, we'll have decorate-your-own-pancakes with a smorgasbord of edible decorations.  Kids of all ages are welcome to this FREE program, sponsored by the Friends of the Library.  Check out these other great Numeroff books!

 

Tween/Teen Weekend Gaming

Tweens and teens are invited to a weekend gaming session, featuring some of your favorite games on the PS3, xbox 360, & Wii! Just for coming we'll let each gamer pick out a FREE young adult book from our reading cart. Refreshments provided by the Friends of the Library.

There is an art to structuring a good story, and it is best accomplished during the all-important pre-writing phase of developing a work. This FREE presentation will address Basic Three Act Structure, and the use of Plot Points and Turning Points to build conflict and move the story forward toward the Climax and Resolution. Presented by John Boles, an award-winning writer, producer, director, editor, and actor with more than twenty-five years’ experience in the entertainment industry. Brought to you by the Florida Writers Association Ancient City Chapter & the Friends of the Library.  Refreshments provided.

The Friends of the Main Library present a special one woman show of the life and times of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, performed by Karen DeVos. Please bring your brown bag lunch and join Marjorie at her "Cross Creek home" as she talks about her writings, the people and events that influence her and hear some excerpts from her works. The FOL is engaged in providing programs to the local community to help promote the joy of reading. Spend a relaxing lunch time with us. Participate in our raffle to help the FOL to continue providing support for the services and needs of the library and enjoy some sweet treats from her cook book. This program is open and FREE to the public.

 

Frolicking Fun Fall Crafts with Andy & Marcia

Fall Crafts for KidsWednesday, November 7 @ 3 pm
Even the youngest crafter will welcome the fall season with these beautiful, easy-to-make projects. The crafts, all based on the symbols of autumn, include trees, leaves, and pumpkins. Join our children's staff for an afternoon of FREE crafting to celebrate autumn.  Enjoy hot apple cider while crafting, and be sure to check out some of our children's books on fall and autumn!

School's Out! Gaming

School's Out GamingWednesday, November 21 from 1-3 pm
School-age children, tweens, and teens choose what they want to play with a day of no school at the Main library. A selection of video game choices for X-box 360, PS3, & Wii consoles will be offered.  Complimentary snacks and soda will be provided.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Library & Sony.
