We'll be showing Secrets of Your Mind: Why We Do What We Do, an ABC Nightline documentary focused on overcoming obesity through the power of the mind. Adult Book Club: Any Book by Carl Hiaasen

Carl Hiaasen was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on March 12, 1953. He has been a reporter for the Miami Herald since 1976, and is known for exposing scandal and corruption throughout southern Florida. He has received numerous state and national honors for his journalism. His best-selling novels include Double Whammy, Skin Tight, Native Tongue, Stormy Weather, Lucky You, Sick Puppy, Basket Case, and Nature Girl. Enjoy sharing your thoughts of any of his books, along with coffee & refreshments, courtesy of the Friends of the Library.

 

Friends Book Fair

Friends Book FairSaturday, October 20 @ 2 pm
The Friends of the Library of St. Johns County present the first Friends Book Fair, featuring area writers showcasing their work. Nancy Haddock, Eileen Erikson, Andre R. Frattino, Kathryn Bain, and Lanny Smith will provide insight into their writing experiences. Refreshments will be served and the program is open and free to the public. The Friends of the Library organization is engaged in providing programs to the local community to help promote the love of reading!

 

Teen Read Week: Horror Short Story Contest @ Main

October 1 through October 29
Join the SPOOKY fun for Teen Read Week and create a horror short story about the library or one of those creepy librarians! Who knows what might lurk in the stacks or ooze from the reference desk? You do...and you can tell us. Pick up an entry form at the Main Library for the contest rules, and turn in your story by October 29 to win a $25 gift card for a mystery location.

October Storytimes @ Main Library

Weekly Storytimes @ Main LibraryWe can't wait for you to join us for all the laughs with books, songs, stories and fun at our during our Fall Storytime season!  We'll be learning about ABCs, Fire Safety, and Halloween this month. We'll see you on Thursdays, October 4, 11, & 18! No Storytimes on October 25.

Baby Time 10:15 am
A gentle lapsit program with action rhymes, fingerplays, and first books for babies.  For pre-walkers only, please.
Toddler Time 11 am
We'll sing, we'll dance, and share our excitement for books and learning at the library. Don't be shy and bring your dancing shoes!
Preschool Storytime 11:30 am
"Big Kids" get a storytime of their own. Longer stories, a variety of early literacy concepts, listening, and pre-classroom skills.  Perfect for 3-5 year olds.
