Viva Florida 500 Event: Starting Your Florida Garden

Why doesn't cilantro grow in the summer? What kind of plants will live in your sandy soil? Is your space limited to container gardening? Share an evening of Florida gardening in honor of Viva Florida 500 and Groundbreaking Reads, our Adult Summer Reading Program. Presented by Donald Gilmore, who has been gardening in St. Augustine with a very green thumb for ten years, and sponsored by the Friends of the Library of St. Johns County.

It's a Groundbreaking Movie

Join us for an evening out at the movies at your neighborhood library. We'll show a new release film to celebrate our Adult Summer Reading Program, Groundbreaking Reads. Enjoy popcorn & refreshments courtesy of the Friends of the Library of St. Johns County. Movie will have a rating of PG or PG-13.
Nature Detective Workshops for Kids

Children, ages 6 - 12, are invited to become Nature Detectives. Learn all about Florida lizards, how to spot them, and how these pollinators relate to gardening. Each child will receive free gardening goodies, including Nature Detective notebooks. These workshops are designed by the Sisterhood of the Traveling Plants, presented by the Garden Circles, and generously sponsored by the Garden Club of St. Augustine. Teen Rocking Summer Reading Party

Come explore what lies Beneath the Surface. Young adults are invited to celebrate the beginning of summer with this cave party for our 2013 Summer Reading Program. Build your very own crystal garden, try not to break a tooth on rocky cupcakes, and win prizes playing games like stalagmite toss. The program is free and sponsored by the Friends of the Library of St. Johns County.
Children's FLYP Event: Swamp Stories

Join local musician, entertainer, and storyteller, Steve Shanholtzer, for tales and music from the swamp. Journey back to the cracker days of old Florida with stories of wild hog hunts, navigating Sweetwater Swamp with a compass, and trips to the company store with a pocketful of tokens. This program is sponsored in partnership with the Friends of the Library of St. Johns County.
