Sandra Parks, owner of Anastasia Books and former city commissioner of St. Augustine, will present a documentary film narrated by her late husband, Stetson Kennedy. The film chronicles the Federal Writers' Project created by President Roosevelt starting in 1937 at the beginning of World War II. Two Florida writers, Stetson Kennedy and Zora Neale Hurston, traveled through the state, collecting oral histories of the people of Florida from different living and economic backgrounds. Their investigative writings preserve a glimpse of a Florida that is no longer in existence.
The program is free of charge and open to the public. Bring your lunch and enjoy the program as well as light refreshments provided by the Friends of the Main Library St. Augustine. For more information contact Friends President, Toni Siriani at Toni825@hotmail.com or call the library at 827-6940.
