Those who have never held a paintbrush, mixed colors, or created a personal masterpiece will have the opportunity to do so completely free of charge. This workshop is sponsored by the St. Johns Cultural Council, the State of the Arts License Plate Program, and the Friends of the Main Library St. Augustine. Science Behind Taking Great Photographs

Great photographs are created through a technique that applies artistic design within a medium that relies on technical precision. Local artist and lifelong photographer, Tom Tibbitts, will help you take your photos to a new level. Come learn the science behind artistic design, elements of light exposure, contrast, depth, composition’s rule of thirds, or Fibonacci’s Ratio as the Golden Mean. The science behind great photographs is the ability to know the rules, when to follow them, and when to break them.

 

Friends of the Main Library St. Augustine Book Sale

The Main Library September book sale features books of all kinds and items such as DVDs, CDs, VHS tapes, and audio books. Hardback books cost $1.00 and paperbacks cost $.50, with many children's books priced even lower. A selection of special books is individually priced at $3.00 and up. This sale introduces a new table featuring books suitable for book artists, crafters, jewelry artists, interior designers, artisans and furniture makers to use in creating their art. Sample craft projects using books will be displayed. The book sale is held by the Friends of the Main Library St. Augustine as a fundraiser. All sale proceeds support programs and other needs of the Main Library.

J.A.A.M. (Japanese Anime At Main)

Do you love watching anime or reading manga? Tweens, teens, and young twenty-somethings are invited to the monthly meeting of our anime club, where you can meet others with similar interests. Do you love free books and playing B-I-N-G-O? Come to the library, make new friends, or bring old friends along, and win adult fiction and non-fiction books. Everyone is guaranteed to go home with at least one book. Book prizes are generously donated by the Friends of the Main Library St. Augustine. Everyone is welcome and it's free.
