LEGO Club for Tweens

LegoWednesday, August 20 @ 4pm
Tweens in 4th-7th grades (ages 9 - 13) are invited to the library for an afternoon of building with Legos and hanging out. No registration is necessary and it's free. Thanks to our Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library for providing the Legos for this very special program just for Tweens, including our pink Legos. Tween girl Lego lovers, we want you to join our club, too.


Free Nemours BrightStart Screenings for Ages 3 - 5

Children ages 3-5 are invited to receive a free, 10-minute Early Literacy Screening at the library, courtesy of Nemours BrightStart. Registration is taken on a first-come, first-serve basis by a Nemours representative. Utilize this free screening to find out where your child's literacy strengths lie, and what you can do to help them improve in any other areas before they start school.


Teen Gaming Night

 Teens (Ages 13-18) are invited to have fun with friends at the library. Play "E" and "T"-rated games on our PlayStation 3, Nintendo WiiU, Nintendo Wii, or X-Box 360 set up on three TVs for simultaneous playing. Don't worry about waiting for a turn - we'll have board games to play. Snacks are provided. Great Books Discussion Group

Summer Reading Event: Teen Wayback Wednesday

Who says LEGOS are just for little kids? All rising 6th - 12th graders are invited to enjoy an afternoon of LEGO fun including a newly-released movie about LEGOs, building with LEGO blocks with your friends, checking out LEGO books from the library, and playing LEGO Rock Band on our X-Box 360. Thanks to the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library, there will be pizza, soda, and munchies as well. Spark a Reaction by telling your friends to not miss the just-for-teens childhood fun at your library. Don't forget to keep turning your summer reading bookmark reviews in at teen programs and the Reference Desk to win free teen books. 

Summer Reading Event: "Frozen" in July

Olaf, the happy snowman, invites the whole family to join Youth Services Librarian Anne and Girly-Girl Partea's at the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library for "Frozen" fun in July. We'll kick off the fun with frozen stories, bubble dancing to "Frozen" songs, decorating Olaf snowmen, topping it all off with a very special visit from the Snow Queen herself. Dressing up in your favorite "Frozen" clothing is absolutely encouraged, but not required. We look forward to celebrating all the fun things you can do "in summer." Summer Reading Event: FLYP Ice Cream Party

All our summer reading participants are invited to join us for our celebratory Ice Cream Party and to wear your pajamas, if you wish. St. Augustine's Jane Quackenbush, author of The Rocket Ship Bed Trip, will be our special guest with a story about how you can dream your way around the solar system. Copies of the book will be on sale with proceeds benefitting the library. Join us for ice cream, an out-of-this-world story, crafts, and more. Summer Reading Event: Magician Mark Alan

Magician Mark Alan returns to the library for a special "mad science"-themed magic show. Don't forget to check out our special magic books display the week of the program to learn your own magic tricks and stay tuned for another special magic show at your library MC'ed by Magician Mark Alan and presented by local Ponte Vedra teens in August. Summer Reading Event: Slime Sisters Science

Who says girls can't love science and all things squishy and slimy? Meet the Slime Sisters, Beaker and Dr. Squish (Ms. Amy and Ms. Anne) as they present an interactive program full of audience participation, corny science jokes, icky science facts, and even slime. We'll learn about the five senses with audience volunteers helping us explore how things taste, smell, feel, sound, and look through stories, experiments, songs, and more.
