Summer Reading Event: Teen "Divergent" Day

All rising 6th - 12th graders are invited to join us for our final Teen Summer Reading Program event: "Divergent" Day. We'll watch the newly released book-inspired movie (rated PG-13) featuring Tris and Four, raffle off copies of the newly released Four by Veronica Roth, play board games, eat pizza, drink soda, and devour "Dauntless" chocolate cake, all thanks to generous support of the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library. Spark a Reaction and show Faction pride by coming dressed in your favorite faction's colors. Bring your friends.

 

Children's Magic Shows Performed by Teens

Magician Mark Alan and Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library teen volunteers are prepared to dazzle children of all ages with their magic. Sponsored by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library, these teens have attended weekly workshops with Magician Mark Alan to learn magic and they are eager to share with you. Join us and prepare to be amazed by our talented teens.

 

STAND Against Bullying with Magician Mark Alan

Magician Mark Alan presents a serious topic in a fun manner using comedy, magic, ventriloquism, musical routines, and lots of interaction to help give kids the tools they need to take a stand against bullying. This 45-minute program is intended for elementary-age children, but is fun for all. Sponsored by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library and made possible at all St. Johns County branch libraries by the Barbara A. Kay Foundation Grant. Everyone is welcome.

 

Family Game Time

Family Board Game NightWednesday, August 27 from 3pm - 6pm
Every 4th Wednesday of the month, the whole family is invited to the library to play board games, including Monopoly, Connect Four, Candy Land, Scrabble, Chutes & Ladders, Uno, and many more. Simply use your library card, or driver's license, to check out the games. All board games - including our new ones (Trivial Pursuit Family Edition, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Don't Drop the Egg, Super Mario Brothers Checkers, and Apples to Apples Disney Edition) are provided by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.

 

Just for Babies and Family Storytimes

Just for Babies - August 19 at 10:15am; for babies up to 15 months and their caregivers. This infant lapsit is designed for one-on-one interaction between caregiver and baby. Families with multiple children are encouraged to attend Family Storytime.

Family Storytime - Held every Tuesday morning in August at 11am; for children 16 months - 5 years and their families, though no child will be turned away. For more information on system-wide library storytimes, please go here.

LEGO Club for Tweens

LegoWednesday, August 20 @ 4pm
Tweens in 4th-7th grades (ages 9 - 13) are invited to the library for an afternoon of building with Legos and hanging out. No registration is necessary and it's free. Thanks to our Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library for providing the Legos for this very special program just for Tweens, including our pink Legos. Tween girl Lego lovers, we want you to join our club, too.

 

Free Nemours BrightStart Screenings for Ages 3 - 5

storytimeTuesday, August 19 from 10am - 12:30pm
Children ages 3-5 are invited to receive a free, 10-minute Early Literacy Screening at the library, courtesy of Nemours BrightStart. Registration is taken on a first-come, first-serve basis by a Nemours representative. Utilize this free screening to find out where your child's literacy strengths lie, and what you can do to help them improve in any other areas before they start school.

 

Teen Gaming Night

teen gamingWednesday, August 6 @ 5pm
Teens (Ages 13-18) are invited to have fun with friends at the library. Play "E" and "T"-rated games on our PlayStation 3, Nintendo WiiU, Nintendo Wii, or X-Box 360 set up on three TVs for simultaneous playing. Don't worry about waiting for a turn - we'll have board games to play. Snacks are provided. This event is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library and our friends at Sony. Call the library at 827-6950 for more details.
