Seussapalooza!

"Grab your Hat and Read with the Cat!"  Children of all ages are invited to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday at the biggest and best birthday bash ever!  Pick up your Seuss passport starting at 2 pm and visit the various arts and crafts stations in the Children's Department.  Birthday treats will be served during a showing of a Dr. Seuss film at 3 pm.  All completed passports will be entered into a prize drawing at 4 pm.  This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Southeast Branch Library. 

 

Teen/Tween Survival Cooking

Viva Florida 500, FOLSE Community Conversations : "Swamp Stories"

Saturday, February 23 @ 2 pm

Return to the cracker days of old Florida as musician & entertainer, Steve Shanholtzer shares his Grandfather's tales of Volusia and St. Johns Counties when wild hog hunts were common and life was hard but so much simpler.  Share an afternoon of laughter and learning. Light refreshments will be served.

St. Johns Reads Event: Scooby Doo Party

In honor of St. Johns Reads, kids and teens are invited to help us create a giant “I Spy” collage and decorate their own mystery boxes to keep secret treasures in.  We'll have classic Scooby Doo cartoon shorts playing while we craft.  Some of our favorite Read to Rover canines will be joining us and can't wait to have you read Scooby Doo stories to them.  All supplies will be provided by the Friends of the Southeast Branch Library.

 

 

Bedtime Storytime

Wear your PJs to this special session of our regular Wednesday storytime where we do storytime backwards!  Arts and crafts come first and then we will wind down with some favorite stories.  This is a family program that is suitable for all young children.

 

Homeschool Hoopla for Grades 4-8

Join our homeschool group... right after storytime!  New Schedule:  The first session of the month will be for children in grades K-3 and the second session of the month will be for children in grades 4-8.  Starting at 12 pm, socialize with other homeschool kids and parents during a bring-your-own brown bag “Library Lunch."  Then join our Library Skills class at 12:30 pm, where you and your child will learn together how to use library resources, from finding books on the shelf to checking out e-books.  Call Kristine at (904) 827-6900 for more information.

Read to Rover

Who let the dogs out?  Elementary students and beginning readers are invited to join our volunteer therapy dogs for a barking good time.  Read your favorite stories to these clever canines and become a member of the Read to Rover Frequent Reader Club.  Don't miss this great experience!

There will be NO Read to Rover on Saturday, February 23.

 

Valentine Bookmark Craft

Create heart-shaped bookmarks with Miss Kristine for Valentine's Day.  They make great gifts for mom, dad, or any special someone.  This program is suitable for kids and teens of all ages.  All supplies will be provided by the Friends of the Southeast Branch Library.

 

Family Storytime

Join Miss Kristine and Miss Alex every Wednesday for a fun-filled hour of stories, songs, and crafts!  This program is geared toward a wide range of ages including families with toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary-aged children.
