To participate, simply go to the Reference Desk of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library starting October 1 to pick up your bookmark reviews. Write short reviews for any books you read during October and turn them in at the Reference Desk for an opportunity to be one of our five grand prize winners selected and contacted on Thursday, October 30. If you win, Jay Woodley, of Woodley Special Effects, whose talents include providing zombie makeup for The Walking Dead, will come to our library after school on Halloween and turn you into a zombie or survivor (your choice!) with special effects makeup and clothes you can keep! The more entries you turn in, the better your chances of a really memorable Halloween. For questions, call the library at 827-6950. Fall is in the air, and if you’re a high school junior or senior, that means college applications. Applying to college can seem like a daunting task -- but one thing that you shouldn’t worry about is the application essay. This 2-part workshop will explain what colleges are looking for in those essays they ask you to write. Applying for a couple of scholarships? The workshop will address those, too. By the end of the class series, you should have a good grasp of what makes a solid essay—arguably the most important part of any application.
Parents, this class series is free—it’s completely funded by the Bartram Trail Branch Friends of the Library. Pre-registration is requested, and can be arranged by calling the library at 827-6960.
Tuesday, October 28 @ 6pm
