Kids Be Your Own Scientist: Maps

Be Your Own ScientistWednesday, November 26 @ 3pm

There is no school and the kids are bored. Sounds like a perfect time to take a break and come to the library. Kids, ages 3-10, are invited to the library to learn about maps. We will make our own treasure maps and even go on a fun treasure hunt through the library. Sponsored by the Friends of the Anastasia Island Branch Library.

Storytimes run through December 3. Baby & Toddler storytimes are for children up to 18 months. Craft time is open to all children and focuses on teaching scissor, glue, and coloring skills. Preschool storytimes are open to any child who can sit for longer stories and participate in active songs, counting, and colors in Spanish. Come for songs, stories, and fun. Baby / Spanish storytime consists of lap-sit rhymes, songs, and stories in both English and Spanish.  We look forward to seeing you.

Baby/Spanish Storytimes in December

Spanish StorytimesFridays @ 10:15am in the Childrens Department

Join us every Friday in December for a fun Spanish/English storytime in the Children's Department. We will have lapsits for babies, rhymes, stories, music, and more. This storytime is conducted in both English and Spanish and is geared towards children and parents learning Spanish, but all are welcome. Bienveniedos a todos!

 

Gentle Stretching with Gina

Gentle StretchingThis free class emphasizes stretching, coordination of breath with movement, attention to alignment, and is designed to create breath awareness, enhance balance, and increase flexibility. Stretching is great for those who are experiencing joint sensitivity, or overall stiffness. Wear loose clothing, bring a towel & mat. Presented by yoga instructor, Gina Mercado.

 

Hire Yourself: Getting Started in the Self-Employed Life

Stories with Santa

He will be here sharing stories about the North Pole and answering questions from the wee ones about what life is like for Santa. Island Yoga with Marlene

Yoga is a great way to increase flexibility, lower stress, and improve energy. Registration and experience are not required. Wear some comfortable clothing and bring a mat, but, if you don’t have one, towels are fine to use. This class is free and open to the public.

 

Kids LEGO Brick Club

Kids LEGO Brick ClubCome into the library to play with over 60 pounds of LEGO bricks and pieces. We supply the LEGO bricks and fun - all you need to bring is your imagination. There is no registration or fee for this program.

 

 

Biblioclast Winter Art for Adults & Teens

Come into the library to create some special winter crafts out of old books. You can choose to make a Christmas tree or some ornaments. We supply the books and materials, you supply the creativity.

 

Winter Wonderland Crafts for Kids

Elftastic Crafts!Kids can come into the library to meet our very own Elf on the Library Shelf, watch and sing along with our shadow puppet caroling show, decorate their own holiday cookie, and make an elf-tastic craft. All supplies are free, courtesy of the Friends of the Anastasia Island Branch Library.

Teen Movie & Pizza Event

Wednesday, December 31 @ 1pm

Teen Movie EventTeens (11-18) can come into the library to eat some pizza and watch a newly released movie about a group of space criminals who must work together to stop the fanatical villain, Ronan the Accuser, from destroying the galaxy. The pizza is sponsored by the Friends of the Anastasia Island Branch Library. (PG13)
