Friday Book Club

Friday, August 7 @ 10am

The Devil in the White CityThe Devil in the White City tells the story of two different men. The architect responsible for constructing the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, Daniel H. Burnham, and H.H. Holmes, who at first appears to be a doctor, but is actually a murderer. Burnham overcomes many obstacles to build the White City and his trials and tribulations are marked along with appearances by key historical figures. Holmes’ World Fair Hotel where he lured his victims is also documented. Larson is a magnificent storyteller and brings to life the great fair that obsessed both master builder and serial killer.    New members are always welcome.
