Join us every Friday for a fun Spanish/English storytime in the Children's Department. We will have lapsits for babies, rhymes, stories, music, and more. Teddy Bear Sleepover: Main
Tuesday, January 6 @ 6pm

It's a teddy bear sleepover at Main. Bring your favorite stuffed friend, teddy bear, or otherwise, and read some bedtime stories, enjoy some snacks, then tuck them in for a library sleepover. Your favorite stuffed friend will play with all the other stuffed animals all night long. Pick them up the next day and they'll tell you all about the fun they had. They'll even have pictures to prove it. Sponsored by The Friends of Main Library Saint Augustine.

childrenChildren ages 3-5 are invited to receive a free, 10-minute Early Literacy Screening at the library, courtesy of Nemours BrightStart. Registration is taken on a first-come, first-serve basis by a Nemours representative. Utilize this free screening to find out where your child's literacy strengths lie, and what you can do to help them improve in any other areas before they start school.

MusicMusical Madness for Kids: Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra's Brass Quintet
Ponte Vedra
Wednesday, January 14 @ 3pm

Youth Services Librarian (and former clarinetist!) Anne Crawford, the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library, and the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra are partnering to invite Kindergartners - 5th graders and their caregivers to celebrate the magic that is music. In January, February, and April, the Brass Quintet, Woodwind Quintet, and String Quintet, respectively, will each be coming to our library after school to perform for you and teach you all about their musical instruments. In May, the JSO will present a special Musical Storybooks program for preschoolers and their families featuring children's book Mole Music by David McPhail and the String Quartet. Come get a taste of the magical world of classical music!

Please note:  the Musical Madness series is geared toward the elementary-aged child with Musical Storybooks geared toward preschoolers. If you wish to bring younger children to any of these programs, please be mindful of the decorum expected for everyone's enjoyment. MAIN-iac Science Labs - Hour of Code: An Introduction to Programming for Kids

Main-iac Labs is branching out into new territory by participating in the world wide Hour of Code! Kids (Ages 4+), can explore a basic introduction to computer science and even learn basic programming skills using the Angry Birds platform. This one hour program is designed to demystify code and show that anyone can learn the basics. There will be a guided lesson followed by individual and group exploration.
