Back by popular demand!  Everypony ages 6 - 10 is invited to sign -up for our My Little Pony Club! Join Ms. Anne and make new friends as we celebrate the "magic of friendship" with all things My Little Pony! We'll talk about our favorite ponies and how the Elements of Harmony can inspire your own inner hero; play My Little Pony board games; watch an episode of the show; and best of all, peruse and checkout My Little Pony books, many of which were provided by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library! These programs are sponsored by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library. Please Note: All children 10 and under must have a parent or guardian present in the room for the duration of all My Little Pony club meetings!

Play "E" and "T"-rated games on our PlayStation 3, Nintendo WiiU, and Nintendo Wii set up on three TVs for simultaneous playing. Don't worry about waiting for a turn - we'll have board games to play. Snacks will be provided. These programs are generously sponsored by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library and our friends at Sony. Call the library at 827-6950 for more details.

 

FALL "Just for Babies" and Family Storytimes

Just for Babies - Held the 2nd and 4th Thursdays, September - November, on Sept. 24, Oct. 8, and Nov. 12 at 10:15am; for babies up to 15 months and their caregivers. This infant lapsit is designed for one-on-one interaction between caregiver and baby. Families with multiple children are encouraged to attend Family Storytime. Please Note:  When the FOL Community Room is not available due to Book Sales or Early Voting, "Just for Babies" will not be held. Please consider joining us at Family Storytime held every Thursday!

Family Storytime - Held every Thursday, September - November, on Sept. 3 & 24, Oct. 1, 8, & 15, and Nov. 5, 12, & 19 at 11am; for children 16 months - 5 years and their families, though no child will be turned away. The Community Room will be organized with an eclectic collection of wonderful books in excellent condition. The "Better Books Room" will have its share of volumes that any patron would be happy to own at reasonable prices. Tuesday's preview is open only to Friends of the Library members. This is your chance to get first choice of books. You can become a Friend of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library member at Seymour's Book Store or at the event and membership begins at just $25. Wednesday through Saturday, the Book Sale will be open to the public. Saturday will once again be Bag Day, where each bag of books is $9. All proceeds go to support the Friends' Mission to make our library an outstanding educational, cultural, civic, and recreational center for the community.


Book Talk Cafe - Charles Martin

Book Talk Cafe returns with bestselling author Charles Martin, who will discuss his latest book, Water from My Heart. This story of love and redemption finds risk taker and shady businessman Charlie Finn traveling to Central America seeking to right the many wrongs he's done in his life.  This program is made possible by the Friends of the Library.

Banned Books Week - Teen Movie Club: "The Hunger Games" (rated PG-13)

Attention Hunger Games fans! In recognition of Banned Books Week; in celebration of Teen Read Week; and in anticipation of the release of the final Hunger Games movie "Mockingjay, Part II", we will be watching and discussing the movies based upon Suzanne Collins' wildly popular Hunger Games series! All 13 - 17 year-old teens are invited to join us and bring your friends as we chow down on pizza and sodas and discuss why it's important not to judge a book by its cover; if the movies are doing a good job representing Suzanne Collins' books; and what we hope to see on screen in the final movie, releasing November 20. Join us! These programs are generously sponsored by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.

Book Talk Cafe - Rosamond Parrish

This month's Book Talk Cafe features award-winning artist and travel writer Rosamond Parrish, who will discuss her  book, Lincolnville: A Sketchbook Journal of St. Augustine's Historic Neighborhood. This book is filled with over 100 watercolors of homes, marsh views, and scenes from the historic neighborhood as well as the early history of Liincolnville.  This program is made possible by the Friends of the Library.

Sisterhood of the Traveling Plants presents "Christmas at Downton"

sisterhoodDo you love "Downton Abbey" or simply enjoy making your home festive for the holidays? Cathy and Marilyn, members of the Las Adelfas Circle of the Garden Club of St. Augustine, are returning to our library to show you how to use food and flowers to spruce up your home with "Downton Abbey" as the inspiration. For even more ideas, the Garden Club of St. Augustine also hosts the annual holiday Tour of Homes in St. Augustine! If you wish, buy raffle tickets from the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library at this program to win the arrangements the Sisterhood creates! Proceeds from the raffle help to sponsor this program. Anyone who attends in "Downton Abbey"-inspired attire will receive a free raffle ticket! Doors will open at 1:30pm and light refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.
