Family Game Time

Family Board Game NightWednesday, April 23 from 3pm - 6pm
Every 4th Wednesday of the month, the whole family is invited to the library to play board games, including Monopoly, Connect Four, Candy Land, Scrabble, Chutes & Ladders, Uno, and many more. Simply use your library card, or driver's license, to check out the games. All board games - including our new ones (Trivial Pursuit Family Edition, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Don't Drop the Egg, Super Mario Brothers Checkers, and Apples to Apples Disney Edition) are provided by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.

 

Bird Island Park's Earth Day Festival

Bird Island Park (located behind the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library) is celebrating Earth Day on April 26 and the whole family is invited! Join your friends and neighbors for a free day of activities. Vendors include A1A Scenic Highway, MOSH, HAWKE with live wildlife, park tours with the county naturalist, storytimes, and live music. Hot dogs and drinks will be sold by Boy Scout Troop 277. The Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library is very grateful for our partnership with Bird Island Park's Ms. Suzanne and Ms. Gail for library storytimes!

 

Just for Babies and Family Storytimes

Just for Babies: Held the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays at 10:15am; for babies up to 15 months and their caregivers. This infant lapsit is designed for one-on-one interaction between caregiver and baby. Families with multiple children are encouraged to attend Family Storytime.

Family Storytime: Held every Tuesday at 11am; for children 16 months to 5 years and their families, though no child will be turned away. For more information on system-wide library storytimes, please go here.

The Community Room will be organized with an eclectic collection of books in excellent condition. The "Better Books Room" will have its share of volumes that any patron would be happy to own at reasonable prices. Tuesday's preview is open only to Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library members. This is your chance to get first choice of books. You can become a Friend of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library at Seymour's Book Store or at the event. Membership begins at just $25. Wednesday through Saturday, the Book Sale will be open to the public. Saturday will once again be Bag Day, where each bag of books is $8. All proceeds go to support the Friends' Mission to make our library an outstanding educational, cultural, civic, and recreational center for the community.

Teen Gaming Night

Teens (Ages 13-18) are invited to have fun with friends at the library. Play "E" and "T"-rated games on our PlayStation 3 (with the new Move), our new Nintendo WiiU, Nintendo Wii, or X-Box 360 (with the new Kinect) set up on three TVs for simultaneous playing. Teen Advisory Board

Teens (Ages 13 - 18) are invited to join our Teen Advisory Board and have a say in the materials we order for teens, the teen programs we offer, and much more at the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library. Participation in the Teen Advisory Board counts as volunteer service hours and snacks are provided by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library. After-School Crafts with Teens

Children (K - 5th grade), and their caregivers, are invited to make crafts with the teens of Nease High School's Arts in Motion Club. Materials are provided by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library. No registration is needed and it's free. Please Note: All children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program.

 

Computer Class: Genealogy Online

Who do you think you are? Learn the basics of using Ancestry.com and FamilySearch.org to start discovering your family's history. Participants must have a basic knowledge of computers. Celebrate Children's Book Week with New York Times best-selling teen author,  Ponte Vedra resident, and library patron, Jake Marcionette. He will sign copies of his book, Just Jake which will be available for purchase. Meet Jake, find out more about his book based on his middle school adventures, discover how he made it big, and celebrate our now famous library patron. Light refreshments will be served and we will be raffling off copies of Jake's book thanks to the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library. Book Talk Café: Memorable Memoirs

Book TalkMonday, May 19 @ 6:30pm

This month's Book Talk Café features three remarkable men who will share their personal stories of lives lived to the fullest. Each one has a vastly different story to tell, and they have each written about their personal journeys in their memoirs: At the End of the Road: One Man’s Journey from Chaos to Clarity by Tim White; Special Agent in Charge, Forrest G. Guthrie’s memoir of his life as a Secret Service Agent who helped protect seven different Presidents; and, The Unlikely Priest by J. Perry Smith, a man who led a life filled with intrigue, danger, and adventure, and eventually became an Episcopal priest. This program is made possible by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.

 

Free Nemours BrightStart Screenings for Ages 3 - 5

Children ages 3-5 are invited to receive a free, 10-minute Early Literacy Screening at the library, courtesy of Nemours BrightStart. Registration is taken on a first-come, first serve basis by a Nemours representative. Utilize this free screening to find out where your child's literacy strengths lay and what you can do to help them improve in any other areas before they start school.
