Get Caught Reading (All Month Long): Hastings
boys readingMay is Get Caught Reading month. Children and teens “caught” reading in the library, and elsewhere any time throughout the month of May, will receive a ticket to be entered into a weekly raffle. See a child or teen reading?  Snap a picture and bring it to the library. Entrants will also have their pictures taken and posted on the bulletin board if they like. This annual national campaign is supported by the Association of American Publishers.

Children's Book Week Event: Bingo for Books
Hastings
Saturday, May 18 @ 1pm

Kids of all ages are invited to come and play Bingo for Books in honor of Children’s Book Week. There will be lots of books to choose from and no one will walk away empty handed. Have fun at the library.

Saturday, May 18 @ 5pm

Teens, grades 6-12, bring your friends and come for an evening of gaming. We have Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Wii, PS3, or play the newest Halo game on X-Box 360. Refreshments will be served.

Tuesday, May 21 @ 6pm

Teens, grades 6 -12, are you looking for something different to do tonight? We're showing a popular anime movie on our big screen. Refreshments will be provided.

 

Family Board Game NightFamily Game Time: Ponte Vedra
Wednesday, May 22 @3pm
On the 4th Wednesday of every month between 3pm - 6pm, the whole family is invited to the library to play board games. Simply use your library card, or driver's license, to check out a board game or two and play anywhere in the library. Challenge your family and friends to your favorite games. Call the Library at 827-6950 for more details. All board games are provided by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.

The library is a great place to get your volunteer hours. Orientation is mandatory and counts as your first service hour. Class size is limited; please call 827-6960 for registration information.

 

School's Out GamingAfter School Gaming: Main
Thursday, May 23 @ 3pm
School-age children, tweens, and teens choose what they want to play after school at the Main library. A selection of video game choices for X-box 360, PS3, & Wii consoles will be offered. Complimentary snacks and soda will be provided. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library of St. Johns County & Sony.

Teens choose what they want to do: video games, movies, music, reading, and more. Video game choices are rated T and above. Sponsored by the Friends of the Anastasia Island Branch Library and Sony.

 

Scrapbooking for Teens: Hastings
Saturday, May 25 @ 1pm

teenYour scrapbook tells the story of who you are, where you’ve been, what you’ve done, and what’s important to you. Bring your scrapbook pages and books, if you have them, plus your pictures and memorabilia. We’ll provide all the materials to help you decorate. (We have tons.) Two sheets of scrapbooking pages will be provided for each participant and two binders will be raffled off.
