SJCPLS has transitioned to a new and improved library catalog to enhance your library experience!

 

Aspen Discovery offers a new way for patrons to discover books, e-books, audiobooks, magazines, movies, and more! This powerful tool makes it easy to find physical and digital materials in our collection. New features in this catalog experience include:

    • Enhanced account control.
    • Options to filter search results by format, language, Accelerated Reader level, and more.
    • Ability to create lists and save your searches and reading history.
    • Reading recommendations, ratings, reviews, and more.

What is Aspen Discovery?

Aspen Discovery is a new user friendly catalog system designed to make your library experience more efficient and enjoyable. This powerful catalog offers features like predictive text, curated reading lists, personalized recommendations, and enhanced account control.

Why is SJCPLS making this change?

Aspen Discovery offers a more user-friendly, modern browsing experience that makes it even easier to find the materials you want. It also offers exciting personalization features and search tools designed to help you more easily discover all that SJCPLS has to offer.

Will I have to register for a library account again?

No, your current account will be migrated over to the new system. If you would like to update any of your account information, please visit your local branch library so staff may assist you.

Will my library card number or any other account information be changing?

No. Your library card number, PIN, and list of items checked out will remain the same. Your PIN will be the last four digits of the phone number on your account. 

Will my login information change to access the new catalog?

No. You will still log into your account with your library card number and PIN. Your PIN will be the last four digits of the phone number on your account.

What will the new catalog look like?

We’re working hard behind the scenes to ensure our new catalog is as stylish as it is functional! Here are some other libraries who currently use Aspen Discovery to give you an idea of what to expect.

Will my lists in the old catalog transfer to the new catalog?

No, your lists did not transfer from the old catalog. Please fill out this form and library staff will assist you with getting access to your old list. 

Will there be an app for the new catalog?

Yes! We plan to launch the accompanying app for our catalog. We are still working on the app and will launch it at a date to be determined in the near future.
