BOPPA CHUA! THE HISTORY OF THE 1950S AND ’60S THROUGH POPULAR SONG

Friends of the Main Library St. Augustine is pleased to welcome New York Blues Hall of Fame inductee Marc Black to be your guide through an afternoon of song, storytelling, and laughter as he explores the historically defining decades of the 1950s and ’60s. You’ll celebrate wonderful songs as diverse as ‘Itsy Bitsy, Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka-Dot Bikini’ and ‘Blowin’ in the Wind,’ as well as tunes by artists ranging from Dean Martin to George Harrison. In addition to the music and conversation, this popular program features a slide show by Susan Black that’s sure to slide you right back in time. Marc will also perform his own group’s top forty hit from his tour with The Doors, Neil Diamond, The Dave Clark Five, and Van Morrison- ‘Happy’ by the Blades of Grass.
This program is free and open to the public, and will take place at The Waterworks, 184 San Marco Ave., which shares a parking lot with the Main Library. Seating begins at 12:00 pm, and the presentation starts promptly at 1:00 pm. No reservations are required. For more information, please call the Main Library at 904-827-6940.
