TEEN IN-HOUSE PUMPKIN DECORATING — REGISTRATION REQUIRED

Want to enter our Great Pumpkin Decorating Contest but need a pumpkin and supplies? Come to our in-house decorating event. Pumpkins provided! Registration required due to limited supplies. This event is for teens ages 13-18 only.

Note: These pumpkins are for the purpose of entering our contest. You can take them home after the winners are announced on Monday, October 30.

In order to allow as many people to participate as possible, there is a one pumpkin per person limit. 

Contest rules:

• Age Categories
  • Adults (18+ who worked independently)
  • Group/family (a group of 2 or more children, teens or adults or a family where young children needed more than 25% adult support [from coming up with the concept to its execution])
  • Youth (12 & under who worked independently and did at least 75% of the work themselves [25% is considered basic safety support like hot gluing and financial support like purchasing supplies])
  • Teens (13 – 18 who worked independently)
• NEW FOR 2023: ARTIFICIAL PUMPKINS ONLY. Real pumpkins will not be accepted due to mold/risk of bugs.
• Pumpkins must be literary-themed! After all — it’s a library!
• NEW FOR 2023: You can puncture/carve your pumpkins! (Carving tools will not be available at our in-house decorating events.)
• No candles or electrical devices, including battery operated.
• No vulgarity of any kind permitted – these will be displayed in the children’s department.
• Objects, paper, and materials of any kind except food may be glued to the pumpkins. You can also paint or draw on your pumpkins.
• All entries must be submitted by Friday, October 20. Please include the completed registration form.
• The public will vote for their favorite pumpkin for each category Monday, October 23 – Saturday, October 28.
• The winners will be announced Monday, October 30.
• Contestants will be able to pick up their pumpkins Monday, October 30 – Saturday, November 4.They will be thrown away on/after Saturday, November 4.
