MAIN-iac Science Lab will stream live each Wednesday at 1:30pm and explore different scientific concepts, cool inventors and more. In this week’s program we will have a brief history lesson on catapults and how they were used in medieval warfare. After the lesson, Mr. Andy will show you how to make your very own mini catapult like contraption using simple household materials. Then you can spend the rest of the day flinging marshmallows and gummy bears or whatever soft payload you can find. Mr. Andy will even show you how to build a paper castle to knock down over and over again.
Materials needed:
Adult supervision – this is science after all
8-10 mini popsicle sticks – better start eating popsicles!
2 larger popsicle sticks/tongue depressers/cheap nail files?
About 4 large rubber bands
A plastic bottle cap
Glue
Toilet paper tubes
Access to a printer or a picture of a castle
Scissors
Something non-destructive to fling ie: ping pong balls, marshmallows, gummy bears, corks, etc.
Alternative supplies – a ruler, a spice bottle, 2 rubber bands, a plastic spoon.
