MAIN-iac Science Lab will stream live each Wednesday at 1:30pm and explore different scientific concepts, cool inventors and more. In this week’s program we will have a brief lesson on rockets. What makes them fly? After the lesson, Mr. Andy will show you how to make your own water bottle rocket at home!
Materials needed:
Adult supervision – this is science after all
The Rocket
A water bottle – 12-16oz is best
A wine cork – make sure it plugs the opening to the bottle tightly
A knife for trimming the cork
A basketball needle
A bicycle pump
The Launch Pad
Two pieces of deck plank approximately 12” long
Two 2x4s approximately 12” long
Two short pieces of 1×2 approx 2-3” long
Screws to put it all together
Extra 2×4 segments for adjusting height of platform
