Solar Eclipse Glasses will not be handed out at this event, but will be available at our Total Solar Eclipse Party on August 21 starting at 10:30 am – one set of glasses per person (must be physically present) – while supplies last! Our Library System is one of 75 libraries nationwide to win the NASA@My Library grant, so join us as we ramp up to an incredibly unique event as a community – the Total Solar Eclipse – by providing opportunities in our Children’s Department for families to make-your-own NASA Eclipse Models, check out astronomy books purchased by our Friends of the Library, and pick up NASA handouts educating you about the Eclipse, space, and beyond! Stop by any time August 17 – 19 to educate yourself about this once-in-a-lifetime event, last occurring in America on June 13, 1257 and not to occur again in America until January 25, 2316! Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
“The NASA@MyLibrary project is led by the National Center for Interactive Learning at the Space Science Institute. Partners include the American Library Association (ALA) Public Programs Office, Pacific Science Center, Cornerstones of Science, and Education Development Center. NASA@MyLibrary is made possible through the support of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Science Mission Directorate as part of its STEM Activation program.”
