Event Details

Solar Eclipse Glasses will not be handed out at this event, but will be available at our Total Solar Eclipse Party on August 21 starting at 10:30 am – one set of glasses per person (must be physically present) – while supplies last! Our Library System is one of 75 libraries nationwide to win the NASA@My Library grant, so join us as we ramp up to an incredibly unique event as a community: the Total Solar Eclipse! Everyone is invited to this “not to be missed” opportunity with NASA Solar System Ambassador Sam Turley as she educates us about the upcoming Eclipse; demonstrates how to make our own safe Eclipse viewers for those of us without safe glasses to view the it; and teaches us how to tell which Eclipse glasses are safe for use. If you are a girl interested in a STEM field, Sam Turley especially wants to inspire you! Don’t forget to check out our new astronomy books on display purchased by the Friends of the Library.

“The NASA@MyLibrary project is led by the National Center for Interactive Learning at the Space Science Institute. Partners include the American Library Association (ALA) Public Programs Office, Pacific Science Center, Cornerstones of Science, and Education Development Center. NASA@MyLibrary is made possible through the support of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Science Mission Directorate as part of its STEM Activation program.”
