Event Details
The St. Johns County Public Library System has been selected as one of 75 public libraries nationwide to partner with NASA @ My Library as part of its STEM Activation Program. Join us as we live stream NASA’s rocket launch SpaceX Falcon 9 BulgariaSat-1. (Date and time subject to change.)
BulgariaSat-1 is the first geostationary communications satellite in Bulgaria’s history. The satellite will be located at the Bulgarian orbital position and will provide television and data communications services to homes in that region of Europe. SpaceX will attempt a controlled landing of the Falcon 9 first stage on the autonomous spaceport drone ship (ASDS), Of Course I Still Love You, in the Atlantic Ocean. Additionally, SpaceX will use a space-proven first stage of a Falcon 9 rocket, initially launched January 2017.
The NASA@ My Library project is led by the National Center for Interactive Learning at the Space Science Institute. Partners include the American Library Association (ALA) Public Programs Office, Pacific Science Center, Cornerstones of Science, and Education Development Center. NASA@ My Library is made possible through the support of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Science Mission Directorate as part of its STEM Activation program.
