Event Details

We’re re-airing this special interview with Commissioner Blocker in honor of Veterans Day. Thank you to all of our Veterans for your service!

Are you a veteran in need, love a veteran who is struggling with suicidal thoughts, or just someone who cares about veterans?  Please join Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library’s Adult Services Librarian Anne Crawford as she sits down with St. Johns County Commissioner and 20-year soldier, Jeremiah Ray Blocker, for a special interview about The Fire Watch, the only organization nationwide dedicated to preventing veteran suicide. As St. Johns County is home to St. Augustine, our Nation’s Oldest City with a long military history and home to our Nation’s only veteran suicide prevention organization, The Fire Watch is incredibly worthy of recognizing for St. Johns County’s 200th anniversary.

For more about Fire Watch, please visit the The Fire Watch’s website and/or download The Fire Watch app to your device. The Fire Watch invites veterans and civilians alike to volunteer to support veterans in need. Any veteran struggling with their mental health is encouraged to join this organization and receiver a Watcher – someone specially assigned by The Fire Watch to the veteran in need to confide in and reach out to anytime. Thank you to our St. Johns County Public Affairs Office for helping to produce this virtual interview.

This is an online event that you can conveniently watch on our website, our Facebook page, or our YouTube channel.
