Event Details

Local author, Greg Leonard, talks with Leslie of the Bookmobile-Extension Services Department about his recently published book, Hastings: Florida’s Potato Capital. This is a personal story for Leonard and those that know of Hastings when it was a thriving town with a rich history. Located close to Palatka, a major port at that time, and Henry Flagler’s Florida East Coast Railway, farms in Hastings provided food for not only local communities, but also throughout the United States. This bustling town that once had its own newspaper would start to see a decline with the construction of State Road No. 4, now known as US 1.
