Event Details

Join Main Library’s Adult Programming Assistant Beth online as she visits the historic Florida Theatre in downtown Jacksonville to celebrate upcoming World Theatre Day. The seven-story Mediterranean Revival-style building first opened its doors to the public in April 1927, presenting Vaudeville acts and silent films. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 and today it continues to host more than 200 cultural and entertainment events, as well as numerous community ceremonies, every year. Beth will meet with Florida Theatre president Numa Saisselin to get a behind-the-scenes peek of this gorgeous theatre and learn some of the fascinating local history attached to its presence. This is an online event that you can conveniently watch on our website, our Facebook page, or our Youtube channel.
