Event Details

Join Main Library’s Adult Programming Assistant Beth online as she meets with Charles Tingley of the St. Augustine Historical Society to discuss one of our most infamous historical residents, Jesse Fish. A resident of eighteenth-century St. Augustine under both Spanish and British rule, Jesse Fish was a merchant and a shipmaster, a slaveholder and a smuggler, a realtor and a translator, possibly a spy and most certainly a schemer. Beth will meet Mr. Tingley at one of the properties that passed through Jesse Fish’s hands, the Llambias House, built sometime before 1763 and named a National Historic Landmark in 1970. This program can be conveniently viewed on our website, our Facebook page, or our Youtube channel.
