Find Joy @ Your Library

I don’t know about you, but I’m very glad to be bidding Old Man Winter farewell for another year. Spring is around the corner, and tell-tale signs are appearing everywhere. The cold days are becoming fewer, the sun is shining longer, and the birds in my yard are singing louder and longer.

Spring is a time for renewal and beginnings. As a quilter, this is the time I pull out patterns, sort through my fabric stash, and tune into all those creative ideas for new projects. Did you know blue is the world’s most popular color? I searched many sources to find the history of the color blue, from AI overviews to websites and news, even Reddit. The consensus is that blue is the favorite of the primary colors (red, blue, and yellow) and secondary colors (green, orange, and purple), with 45% to 47% rating it. Our brains associate the color blue with being calm, happy, and peaceful. Unlike other colors, it’s hard to think of a bad thing that’s naturally blue.

Here’s a fun trivia fact for you: The universal library symbol is “library blue!”

April, for libraries, means celebrating National Library Week. This week highlights the valuable role the libraries and library professionals play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities. National Library Week celebration runs April 19–25, 2026, and this year’s theme, “Find Your Joy,” invites everyone to discover what brings them joy at the library. Whether you’re a butcher, baker, quilter, or candlestick-maker, there is joy to be found within our system, and staff is ready to help with your questions and requests.

I encourage each of you to stop into your local library, or visit one of our bookmobiles, and take advantage of the wonderful resources and programs we offer for all ages. Come in and find your joy at the library!
