Find Your Place at the Library

National Library Week, April 19-25, 2020, is a time to celebrate what libraries and library professionals contribute to their communities.

This is a trying time for our communities, our nation, and the world. At SJCPLS, we believe the library’s mission is as powerful and important as ever during these challenging times.

Despite the physical libraries being closed, SJCPLS is playing a critical role in meeting community needs. Through our virtual services and programming, we can connect patrons to local social and health services, provide online educational tools that transform lives and communities, and afford endless opportunities for entertainment, engagement, enrichment, and development.

The increased time that children and families will spend together over the next few weeks is a terrific opportunity to read or listen to books, stream a movie, listen to music, or enjoy one of our daily Facebook Live storytimes. Reading together promotes bonding and builds strong emotional connections, despite the turmoil in the world.

April 21st is National Library Workers Day and a great time to thank your SJCPLS staff for their hard work. The SJCPLS is successful because of their dedication and commitment to the community.

Sincerely,

Debra Rhodes Gibson
