Hello and happy summer to all! After many months of offering virtual programs and limited in-library services, things are finally looking more “normal” at the library, with plenty of places to sit and read, study, or connect. SJCPLS is pleased to announce that all branches and bookmobiles will be returning to our pre-COVID hours and services as of July 1, 2021! We are also moving forward with some in-person programs this summer. Thanks to all of you for your patience and support as we have worked through the various service transitions this past year.

Our summer reading program, “The Best Summer at Your Library,” is in full swing, and we hope this helps bring many of you back into the library if you have not visited in a while. For those of you who are reluctant to come inside, we are still offering curbside pick-up or Books-by-Mail service.

If your summer includes travel plans, be sure to download the Libby/Overdrive or Hoopla Digital apps to take your library with you. Once you download the free app from your device’s store, all you need is your library card to get started. Our friendly staff is ready to assist you in getting things set up, and you can call any branch library for assistance.

I am all for anything that encourages people to read, use their public libraries, and think about how to squeeze in a few more pages before bed. And, with six branches throughout St. Johns County and two traveling bookmobiles, you are sure to find “The Best Summer at Your Library” close by!
