Letter from the Library Director:

On the Road… @ Your Library

Bookmobiles are a central part of library service. For over 100 years, bookmobiles have served rural, urban, suburban, and tribal areas, bringing access to information and life-long learning resources to all ages and communities. Bookmobiles are like mobile, fun-size branch libraries.

Library Bookmobile

With the continued growth in St. Johns County, SJCPLS is dedicated to providing access to information, literature, and ideas to members of the community who are unable to use one of our six current libraries due to geographic, transportation, economic, or other barriers.

SJCPLS currently operates two bookmobiles, taking library services on the road, offering books and activities at community events, in neighborhoods without a branch library, and to senior/care/youth facilities. Every week, the bookmobiles visit neighborhoods spread throughout St. Johns County, making stops at schools, senior facilities, parks, and other locations serving over 2600 patrons where they live, work, and play. The bookmobiles house a collection of over 5400 books and materials specially curated to meet the needs of the neighborhoods and events we serve.

Anyone may visit any community bookmobile stop to browse and check out items, and you may return any SJCPLS item to the bookmobiles. You can even request items to be brought to your bookmobile stop! Stop in, say hello, and check us out!

For more information about the bookmobile service or to request a bookmobile stop in your neighborhood, please contact Extension Services Manager, Harold George, at 904-827-6928. You can view the bookmobile schedule at https://sjcpls.org/branches/bookmobile/.
